Karkala, Jan 14: In view of the approaching fire season, trekking has been temporarily banned in several forest and wildlife areas under the Kudremukh Wildlife Division to ensure the safety of the public, tourists and trekkers.
The ban applies to trekking routes within Kudremukh National Park, Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary and Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary. The Assistant Conservator of Forests, Kudremukh Wildlife Division, Karkala, has issued an official order prohibiting entry to these trekking routes from January 14 until further orders.

Forest authorities have been instructed to widely publicise the restriction, install warning signboards and deploy adequate staff to strictly enforce the ban across all notified trekking zones.
The trekking routes where entry has been prohibited include Gangadikallu, Kudremukh Peak, Kurinjal, Valikunja (SK Border), Valikunja (Karvashe), Narasimha Parvatha (Kigga), Narasimha Parvatha (Malandur), Kodachadri (Valur), Kodachadri (Hidlumane), Bandaje–Volambra and the Netravati trek.
Authorities have appealed to the public and adventure enthusiasts to cooperate with forest officials and refrain from entering restricted areas during the fire season, warning that violations will invite strict action.
