Mumbai, Jan 23: The Mayuravarma Cultural Pratishthana, well known in greater Mumbai and the hinterland for its ideological, folk, historical, literary, social and cultural activities, has constituted its new executive committee for the 2026–2031 term. Senior organiser and long-time member of the pratishthana, T R Madhusudhan, was unanimously elected as the new president.

The new executive committee was formed during a special annual general body meeting held recently under the chairmanship of outgoing president Kadandale Suresh Bhandari, in the presence of members. K L Shantaram, noted social thinker, was elected vice president, Savita R Shetty as general secretary, Rajvarma Jain as joint secretary, and Rajesh P Gowda Sindoor, Tara G Bangera, Ananth S Bhat and Ambika Devadiga as members.

In recognition of his decade-long service to the organisation and the continued need for his guidance, Kadandale Suresh Bhandari was elected honorary president. The outgoing office-bearers congratulated the newly elected president and the executive committee members.

Speaking on the occasion, Vishwanath Dodmane, founder and chief architect of the pratishthana and outgoing general secretary, highlighted that for over one-and-a-half decades the organisation has been consistently organising programmes related to folk traditions, history, literature, social causes and culture. He recalled initiatives such as the lecture series ‘Freedom and Responsibility’ organised across Mumbai during the 75th Independence Day celebrations, along with programmes like Adugolajjiya Katha Kammata, Tavarumane Bandhavya, folk riddles and proverbs, contributions of sages to Sanatana Dharma, public awareness campaigns on the dangers of unscientific electric wiring, environmental initiatives including distribution of cloth bags, publication of books, theatre activities, and promotion of agriculture through the annual ‘Krushi Bandhu’ award. He also noted that the ‘Chakradhari Award’ has been regularly conferred on organisations or individuals engaged in social service, and assured continued support to the new committee.

Assuming office, newly elected president T R Madhusudhan said that with the guidance of seniors and the cooperation of the newly elected office-bearers, the pratishthana’s activities would be carried forward with continuity and commitment.
