Melbourne, Jan 24: Fourth seed Amanda Anisimova continued her dominant run at the Australian Open, defeating fellow American Peyton Stearns 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday to book her place in the last 16.
Battling scorching heat at Melbourne Park, the 24-year-old wrapped up the contest in just 71 minutes at Margaret Court Arena. Anisimova, who is yet to drop a set in the tournament, displayed aggressive baseline play to overpower the 68th-ranked Stearns.

Anisimova raced through the opening set before facing brief resistance in the second, where Stearns won three consecutive games to delay the finish. However, the world number four quickly regained control to seal the match.
“Super-hot today, but I had a lot of fun playing in front of the crowd, especially with so many American supporters,” Anisimova said after the match.
The American, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season with runner-up finishes at Wimbledon and the US Open, will next face either Czech 13th seed Linda Noskova or China’s Wang Xinyu for a spot in the quarter-finals.
