KRK arrested in Andheri firing case

Mumbai, Jan 24: Actor and self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK) has been arrested in connection with a firing incident reported from Mumbai’s western suburb of Andheri, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on January 18 at Nalanda Society in the Oshiwara area, where two bullets were fired at a residential complex. Investigators later linked the firing to KRK, following which he was taken to the Oshiwara police station late Friday night for questioning.

During interrogation, KRK allegedly admitted to firing two rounds from his licensed firearm. Police said a case has been registered against him under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.

As part of the probe, police recovered two bullets from the society premises — one from the second floor and another from the fourth floor. Officials said one of the affected flats belongs to a writer-director, while the other is owned by a model. Initial investigation did not yield concrete leads, as CCTV footage from the area proved inconclusive.

However, a subsequent forensic examination reportedly suggested that the bullets may have been fired from KRK’s bungalow located nearby. Police officials said the motive behind the firing is still under investigation.

KRK is no stranger to legal trouble. In August 2022, he was arrested at Mumbai International Airport over allegedly derogatory social media posts and was remanded to judicial custody. He was also arrested in a molestation case registered in 2021, in which he was later granted bail.

KRK rose to fame after appearing on the reality show Bigg Boss Season 3 in 2009 and acting in the film Deshdrohi. He later made a cameo appearance in Ek Villain (2014). In recent years, he has largely remained in the spotlight for his controversial and outspoken criticism of Bollywood films and personalities on social media.
