Chennai, Jan 26: As preparations intensify for the upcoming Indian Super League season, former champions Chennaiyin FC have strengthened their squad by signing seasoned Indian attacker Imran Khan on a deal that runs until the end of the campaign.

The 30-year-old brings with him over a decade of top-level experience, having made more than 130 appearances across Indian football since turning professional in 2013. Known for his tireless work ethic and versatility, Khan adds depth and maturity to Chennaiyin’s attacking options.

Expressing his excitement after completing the move, Khan said he was eager to embrace a fresh challenge. “I’m really looking forward to the new season and being part of this new project. Joining Chennaiyin FC is an exciting step and a new chapter in my career with the Marina Machans. I’ve worked with Clifford Miranda before, and I’m excited to reunite with him,” he said.

The Manipur-born attacker is typically deployed on the left wing but is comfortable operating across multiple attacking roles. He most recently featured for Jamshedpur FC in the ISL, where he played a key role in their run to the semi-finals, and has also represented FC Goa earlier in his career.

Chennaiyin FC highlighted Khan’s consistency and team-first approach, noting his ability to contribute effectively both in possession and defensive phases. His adaptability across systems and competitions has made him a reliable presence in the domestic circuit.

Head coach Clifford Miranda welcomed the signing, stressing the importance of experience and tactical intelligence within the squad. “Imran is a valuable addition, especially because of his left foot and his understanding of the game. He had an excellent season last year and made a decisive impact. His experience on the wings and his ability to operate in half spaces give us more attacking options and a different dimension going forward,” Miranda said.

With Khan’s arrival, Chennaiyin FC continue to reinforce their Indian core as they aim to build a balanced and competitive squad for the new season. The attacker is set to join the team immediately and begin training with his new teammates as the club gears up for the campaign ahead.
