Woman falls from crowded local train, dies in Thane

Thane, Jan 31: A 28-year-old woman lost her life after falling from a crowded suburban local train during the morning rush hour at Badlapur railway station in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday.

According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the incident occurred around 8.10 am when the victim, identified as Chetana Devrukhkar, was attempting to board a moving train bound for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). She reportedly slipped and fell on the platform amid heavy commuter rush.

Senior inspector Pandhari Kande of the Kalyan GRP said Devrukhkar was employed with a private firm in Thane and was on her way to work at the time of the incident.

She sustained fatal injuries in the fall and was declared dead. The GRP has registered a case of accidental death and further inquiry is underway.
