Tulu film ‘Jai’ selected for Bengaluru International Film Festival

Mangaluru, Feb 1: The Tulu film ‘Jai’, starring and directed by rock star Roopesh Shetty, has been selected for the 17th Bengaluru International Film Festival to be held from January 29 to February 6. The film has been chosen in the Popular Entertainment category alongside Kannada superhit films, marking a significant milestone for Tulu cinema.

The film has successfully completed 75 days in theatres and is expected to soon reach the 100-day milestone. Actor-director Roopesh Shetty has announced that a new film project will be unveiled during the 100-day celebration of Jai.

In Mumbai, Jai created history by hosting the largest-ever Tulu film premiere, with over 25 shows across nine theatres in a single day, setting a new record. The film also achieved another landmark by recording 1,020 shows on its very first day, the highest in the history of Tulu cinema.

The film has already witnessed impressive runs wherever it has been screened and has received widespread appreciation from audiences. Roopesh Shetty stated that the film has been well received by viewers, garnering positive feedback from all sections of society. He added that the movie has been enjoyed by entire families, including schoolchildren.

Jai is a big-budget Tulu film and features several renowned artistes from the district. Following the success of Girgit and Circus, Roopesh Shetty has directed Jai, further strengthening his position in the industry. The presence of Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty in the film has also made a strong impact.

The film is produced under the banners of RS Cinemas, Shoolin Films, and Mugrodi Production. Roopesh Shetty has directed the film, while the story and dialogues are written by Prasanna Shetty Bailur. The screenplay is by Roopesh Shetty and Venu Hasralli. Vinuth K has handled cinematography, Loy Valentine Saldanha has composed the music, Rahul Vasishta has done the editing, and Naveen Shetty Aryans has served as the choreographer and executive producer.

The film features Suniel Shetty, Dr Devadas Kapikad, Raj Deepak Shetty, Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Prasanna Shetty Bailur, Sandeep Shetty Manibettu, Umesh Mijar, Jyotish Shetty, Manoj Chetan D’Souza, among others. Advithi Shetty has played the female lead.
