Woman assaulted on staircase; separate incest rape case surfaces

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 6: In a disturbing incident, a woman was allegedly assaulted by a youth on a staircase in Mumbai, with portions of the act captured on CCTV footage. However, the most critical moments of the assault were not recorded by the camera.

According to available footage from another angle, the man is seen lifting the woman and throwing her to the ground. As the woman attempted to get up and move away, the accused allegedly dragged her down the staircase again. He was later seen making a phone call while walking back upstairs and is suspected to have struck the woman before leaving the spot.

Although no formal police complaint has been filed so far, Mumbai Police have launched a search operation to trace both the accused youth and the woman. Officials said further investigation would proceed once the individuals involved are located.

In a separate and deeply shocking case, a 20-year-old woman from Mumbai was allegedly raped and impregnated by her own father. The crime was confirmed after DNA test results established that the foetus was biologically linked to the accused, as reported by NDTV.

The incident came to light when the woman, who is hearing and speech impaired, complained of abdominal discomfort to her grandmother. The offence reportedly took place in the Cuffe Parade area.

The case dates back to September last year, when police arrested another man and detained a 17-year-old boy based on the woman’s initial complaint, in which she alleged rape by multiple individuals. Police are continuing investigations to ascertain the roles of others possibly involved in the crime.
