Dubai, Feb 7: The UAE has unveiled a new public-facing security reporting initiative that allows residents to confidentially flag potential threats, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s preventive security framework. The service, launched by the State Security Department, is designed to give the public a direct and trusted way to share information that may affect public safety or social stability.
Known as the “SSD” service, the initiative provides a dedicated communication channel through which individuals can report security-related concerns. Authorities say the move is aimed at speeding up responses, improving the effectiveness of preventive measures, and reinforcing the UAE’s broader national security system.

The launch is built on the principle that safeguarding the nation is a shared responsibility. Officials stress that public awareness and participation form the first layer of defence against potential risks. By opening a direct line to the State Security Department, the initiative encourages residents to play an active role in protecting national achievements and preserving a safe, stable society.
The SSD service accepts reports on a wide range of issues, including extremist activities, suspicious behaviour, threats to community or personal safety, insults directed at the state and its symbols, information leaks, espionage, and any other actions or observations that could undermine social harmony.
Members of the public can submit information through the toll-free number 800 6600, offering a quick and accessible way to communicate with authorities. The department has assured that all reports are treated with strict confidentiality, with the identities of callers protected under the highest standards of privacy and data security, allowing people to come forward without fear or hesitation.
Officials say the initiative is intended to deepen trust and cooperation between the community and security institutions. Early reporting, they note, can help prevent risks from escalating and plays a vital role in maintaining social peace.
The introduction of the SSD service also coincides with the verification of the State Security Department’s official presence on the X platform. The account will serve as an interactive space to share verified information, raise security awareness, issue alerts, and encourage responsible public engagement in support of national security and stability.
