Baramati, Feb 8: Even as talks over a possible merger between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party continue to highlight differences within the party, the personal bonds within the Pawar family appear to remain strong, as reflected in recent developments in Baramati.
Following the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar, a steady stream of people has been visiting the Sahyog Cooperative Society in Baramati to offer condolences. Members of Ajit Pawar’s family have been present at the venue, along with NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, who has been spending considerable time there over the past few days.

Amid this, a photograph of Sharad Pawar and his grandson Parth Pawar, taken at the Sahyog Society while they were engaged in conversation, went viral on social media, triggering fresh political chatter. The image was widely shared in political circles, leading to speculation beyond the family context.
Parth Pawar, who is coping with the grief of losing his father at a young age, and Sharad Pawar, who is dealing with the shock of his nephew’s sudden death, have both been regularly present at the Sahyog Society. Hundreds of people have been visiting the place daily to pay tribute, with Sharad Pawar personally meeting visitors alongside the bereaved family.
During the same period, Rohit Pawar also joined the interaction, and another photograph surfaced showing Sharad Pawar with both his grandsons, Parth and Rohit. However, Rohit Pawar clarified that there was no political discussion within the family at present.
He said the family members were yet to recover from the tragedy and that politics was not on their minds. Rohit Pawar added that no political discussions had taken place within the family so far and that any such talks would happen only after the ninth day rituals.
The viral images have also sparked reactions from political leaders. Senior NCP leader Sunil Tatkare said there was nothing political in the photographs and advised against drawing misconceptions. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut remarked that beyond political differences, family unity remains paramount and compared the situation to recent developments within the Thackeray family.
Despite the split in the Nationalist Congress Party, the Pawar family’s internal bonds appear unchanged. Whether these ties will influence future political decisions or the direction of the two NCP factions remains a subject of keen political interest.
