Biker killed in hit-&-run near BITS Pilani Goa

Vasco, Feb 8: A 32-year-old two-wheeler rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday morning near the main gate of the BITS Pilani Goa campus at Zuarinagar, Sancoale.

The deceased has been identified as Pravin Shirolkar, a resident of Baina and a native of Kolhapur. He was employed with Cipla at the Verna Industrial Estate.

According to police, Shirolkar was travelling towards Verna when the accident occurred. A truck and a tanker were moving along the same stretch at the time. Eyewitnesses said he allegedly attempted to move ahead amid heavy traffic, lost balance, and fell under the rear wheel of the truck, resulting in his death on the spot.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the incident but later appeared at the Verna police station. The vehicle has been seized for inspection.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
