Goa constable booked for alleged theft of gold from accident victim

Panaji, Feb 12: Goa Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Saish Parsekar, a police constable driver attached to the State Police Control Room (SPCR), over allegations of stealing gold ornaments worth approximately ?8 lakh from a road accident victim.

The case stems from an accident that took place on January 25 near Rocky Garage in Anjuna. Jaster Vincent Rodrigues (27), a resident of Quepem, reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a coconut tree. He suffered critical injuries and was later declared dead at the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa.

According to Anjuna Police Inspector Suraj Gawas, the complaint was filed by the victim’s brother, Jovy Rodrigues. He alleged that Parsekar removed a gold bracelet, a gold kada, and a gold ring featuring a dollar-sign design from Jaster at the accident site.

Based on the complaint, Anjuna police registered an FIR and launched a detailed investigation into the matter.

Officials stated that the Police Control Room (PCR) vehicle was on its way to attend another emergency call when personnel came across the accident scene and stopped to render assistance. Further inquiries are underway.
