Kolkata, Feb 14: A handwritten bomb threat note was discovered onboard an IndiGo flight bound for Shillong just minutes before its scheduled departure from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday, triggering a full-scale security alert.

The note was found inside the lavatory of flight 6E-7304 by a crew member, indicating a possible explosive device onboard, sources said. The aircraft was immediately moved to an isolation bay away from the main terminal and active taxiways as a precautionary measure, and all passengers were safely evacuated.

“All passengers and crew have been safely evacuated. Standard Operating Procedures are being followed, including a comprehensive sweep of the aircraft and re-screening of all checked-in and hand baggage,” an airport official stated.

A heavy deployment of Central Industrial Security Force personnel was seen around the isolation zone, while specialised airport vehicles, including fire tenders, were stationed at the site. Ground staff in high-visibility jackets coordinated the emergency response.
All luggage was offloaded onto the tarmac for detailed screening by sniffer dog squads and bomb disposal units.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any suspicious object has been recovered. Further investigation is underway.
