Mumbai, Sep 12: Maharashtra minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has reacted to Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil's proposed agitation in Mumbai, saying it would be difficult to hold a protest in the city during the Ganeshotsav period.

Bawankule said the government would have to ensure that law and order was not disrupted during the agitation.

He also said holding a protest in Mumbai during Ganeshotsav would not be appropriate, considering the large number of devotees and the heightened movement in the city during the festival.

The minister's remarks came as Jarange Patil's proposed Mumbai agitation has drawn the first reaction from the state government, with authorities expected to closely monitor the situation to ensure that public order and normal activities are not affected.

Bawankule stressed the need to maintain peace and ensure that the law-and-order situation remains under control during the festival period.
