Panaji, Feb 22: The Directorate of Vigilance has initiated a formal inquiry into alleged recruitment fraud in the state’s Fisheries Department following a complaint accusing two employees of securing jobs using forged educational documents.
According to an official communication, a complaint was filed on September 9, 2025, by a resident of Salcete, Goa, alleging that Porvinder Lone (alias Parvin Lone) and his brother Devanand Lone, both currently employed with the Fisheries Department, relied on fake educational certificates for their initial appointments as well as subsequent promotions.

In a letter dated January 12, 2026, the Additional Director of the Directorate of Vigilance directed the Vigilance Officer of the Fisheries Department to submit the original recruitment records of the two officials.
The department has also been asked to furnish an Action Taken Report (ATR) detailing any independent internal inquiry conducted into the matter.
The Directorate has instructed the Fisheries Department to comply within 30 days of receipt of the notice.
Further investigation is expected to determine the authenticity of the documents and whether any procedural lapses or misconduct occurred during the recruitment and promotion processes.
