Madurai, Feb 25: Expelled V. K. Sasikala on Tuesday formally announced her return to active politics with the launch of a new political outfit, unveiling its party flag at a public meeting in Ramanathapuram.
The event was held at Kottaimedu near Pasumpon on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. Sasikala introduced the party flag bearing black, white and red colours, along with portraits of Dravidian icons C. N. Annadurai, M. G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa.

Describing the flag as a symbol of ideological continuity, she said the new party would tread the path laid down by these leaders and function as a movement dedicated to the welfare of the poor and marginalised sections of society.
“This is a movement for the people of Tamil Nadu and for grassroots workers. We are entering a new political field to restore the ideals of our leaders,” Sasikala said, adding that the decision followed “years of patience and reflection.” She stated that the party’s name would be announced shortly.
In her address, Sasikala revisited the history of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and her long association with Jayalalithaa. Referring to the political developments after Jayalalithaa’s demise in 2016, including the appointment of O. Panneerselvam as Chief Minister and the ensuing internal rifts, she alleged that “internal dissent, administrative interference and betrayal from within” weakened the party.
“After Amma’s demise, many incidents took place that caused pain to cadres. I remained silent for years hoping for unity, but circumstances have forced me to take this decision,” she said.
Projecting the new outfit as a people-centric Dravidian force, Sasikala asserted that it would rise above caste and religious divisions while focusing on social justice, women’s welfare and economic empowerment.
She said Ramanathapuram was deliberately chosen for the announcement, describing it as “a land of courage and sacrifice,” while invoking the legacy of regional freedom fighters.
