Kuwait, Feb 25: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) successfully held ‘KCWA Box Cricket and Badminton Tournament 2026’ on Friday, February 13 at Indian English Academy School (A Don Bosco Institution) – Kuwait.
The tournament commenced by invoking god’s blessings led by Jinella Rodrigues. This was followed by a welcome address by president Prakash Pinto, who warmly welcomed the participating teams, sponsors and guests gathered and requested everyone to extend their wholehearted participation and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The president, along with the Management Committee members, played a few ceremonial deliveries formally declaring the tournament open. The opening ceremony was led by Tressy Cutinho.



















































































































































The Box Cricket tournament was held in 2 categories with 9 teams in Men’s regulars and 6 teams in Women’s Regulars. A total of 15 teams participated in the tournament. Badminton tournament was held in 3 categories with 7 teams in under 12, 4 teams in 12 to 18 years and 16 teams in adult’s category. The event was held exclusively for KCWA members and their families. Over 500 members witnessed this event.

KCWA spiritual animator, Fr Avil Rosario, graced the occasion and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the organization for successfully hosting the sports event. He also joined the sponsors in presenting the trophies to the winners.
Allen Pinto, Antony Fernandes, Anil Britto, Canute D’Souza, Fijo Cj, Elvis Noronha, Leo Rodrigues, Venkatesh Manai, Wasim Sheikh, Olwin Fernandes, Nisha Monis, Josline D’Souza, Roshan Martis, Austin D’Cunha, Prashanth Reddy, Kenneth Fernandes efficiently served as the match officials and scoring officials for the tournament. They received mementos in appreciation of their contributions.
Ajith Melwin D’Souza, Harry Fernandes, Naveen D’Souza and Zico Fernandes served as volunteers, ensuring the smooth conduct of the tournament. Tressy Cutinho, Vinitha Pinto, Dr Manohar Prabhu and Prashanth Loyd D’Souza handled the commentary and announcements, adding energy and enthusiasm to the tournament.
Alban D’Souza & Arwin Rodrigues captured the memorable moments of the day, while Nilton D’Souza ensured timely updates on social media. The sound system was provided by Roshan Rodrigues. KCWA extends its sincere thanks to Flavors Confectionary, Salmiya for arranging the food stall.
Arwin Rodrigues led the final presentation ceremony followed by a vote of thanks proposed by the sports secretary Alan Vaz.
The event concluded with a closing hymn led by Johnson D’Almeida, thanking the Almighty for the successful completion of the ‘KCWA Box Cricket and Badminton Tournament 2026.’
