Kolkata, Feb 28: The Bharatiya Janata Party is set to launch its large-scale ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in West Bengal on Sunday, marking one of the party’s most extensive mobilisation drives ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The BJP has positioned the campaign as a direct challenge to over a decade of governance by the All India Trinamool Congress, alleging corruption, administrative apathy, deterioration in law and order, and what it describes as demographic imbalance in the state.

Carrying the slogan “Paltano Dorkar, Chai BJP Sorkar”, the Yatra will be held simultaneously across all nine organisational divisions of the state. The outreach programme will cover nearly 5,000 kilometres, passing through 38 organisational districts and more than 230 Assembly constituencies.
Party leaders estimate that the initiative will generate over one crore direct touchpoints with citizens, focusing on grassroots mobilisation and face-to-face interactions. The plan includes 63 major rallies and 281 welcome gatherings at Assembly constituency entry points.
The BJP’s messaging during the Yatra will centre on governance reforms, systemic change and accountability. The party plans to highlight issues such as women’s safety, alleged corruption in the education sector including teacher recruitment scams, and concerns over national security.
Sources said the campaign will also focus on alleged illegal infiltration and the presence of extremist elements in border districts. In rural areas, the outreach will emphasise agricultural infrastructure, transparent implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and the removal of middlemen. In urban regions, the narrative will stress industrial growth, youth employment and improved urban mobility.
The deployment for the Yatra is extensive, with more than 100 senior central and state leaders participating. The inaugural phase on Sunday and Monday will include five opening gatherings on the first day and four on the second.
Senior leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, Dharmendra Pradhan and Shivraj Singh Chouhan are expected to take part.
After a brief pause for Holi, the campaign will resume from March 5 to 10 with six days of continuous movement, with each Yatra unit scheduled to run for nine hours daily. The initiative will culminate in a major public rally at Kolkata’s Brigade Ground, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address supporters.
The BJP has described the Parivartan Yatra as a decisive push to reshape the political landscape in West Bengal and build momentum ahead of a crucial electoral battle.
