Moodbidri, Feb 28: Stressing that social unity is an urgent need of the present time, Swasti Shri Bharata Bhushana Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Panditacharya Mahaswamiji of the Moodbidri Jain Math said that at a time when narrow-minded attitudes are creating divisions in society, the Taulava Indra Samaj has undertaken a highly commendable initiative. He noted that bringing Jain boys and girls together without any discrimination and inspiring them to lead their lives on the path of dharma is a praiseworthy programme that must be continued. He added that it should become a new beginning for the progress of the Jain community and that such programmes are urgently needed to preserve and promote Jain culture.

He was delivering his blessings and address at the mass Upanayana Samskara ceremony for vatus and Vratopadesha programme for Jain children, organized by the undivided Dakshina Kannada District Taulava Indra Samaj, recently held at Sri Mahaveer Bhavan in Moodbidri. During the programme, Charukeerthi Bhattaraka imparted religious guidance to the vatus and explained that the principles given in Charananuyoga among the four Anuyogas can be adopted by shravakas in their daily lives to attain moksha. He said that by adopting the Panchanuvratas in their lives, one can walk on the righteous path and that the path to moksha is open to all.

As part of the programme organized by the undivided Dakshina Kannada District Taulava Indra Samaj, Upanayana Samskara was performed for seven vatus and Vratopadesha was given to 25 Jain boys and girls. The event was conducted under the leadership of Taulava Indra Samaj president Dharanendra Indra Paneru and secretary Vrushabharaja Indra Ajjibettu, with the cooperation of office-bearers.

A large number of Indras and Jain shravakas from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district participated in the programme, and the Swamiji honoured the donors by presenting them with shawls. Pramod Kumar Ujire compered the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.
