New Delhi, Mar 3: Apple is reportedly considering a collaboration with Google to bolster the capabilities of its voice assistant, Siri, as it looks to integrate advanced generative AI features. Facing challenges in scaling its AI infrastructure, the Cupertino tech giant is evaluating ways to leverage Google’s AI models and infrastructure to deliver more contextual and intelligent interactions, according to reports.
The discussions involve the possibility of deploying Google’s AI systems within Apple’s own data centers, allowing for enhanced performance while keeping operations under Apple’s control. This approach could complement Apple’s ongoing efforts to prioritise on-device processing for privacy-sensitive tasks, while more complex AI computations could be handled via cloud infrastructure.

Apple currently uses its Private Cloud Compute (PCC) for advanced AI features, processing user requests in a stateless manner. According to the company, user data is only temporarily held on servers and is not retained after responses are returned, ensuring privacy compliance.
The tech giant has already confirmed plans to integrate Google’s Gemini AI model as an optional AI provider, alongside its existing internal AI systems. CEO Tim Cook noted that Apple’s internal AI efforts will continue independently and will not conflict with the Gemini partnership, signalling a dual approach to advancing Siri’s intelligence.
This potential collaboration underscores Apple’s commitment to enhancing Siri while navigating the growing demand for scalable AI infrastructure.
