BJP nominates Nitin Nabin for Rajya Sabha from Bihar names eight others

New Delhi, Mar 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, nominated its national president Nitin Nabin as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Bihar.

The party announced Mr Nabin’s name along with eight other candidates for the upcoming biennial elections to the Upper House.

The Election Commission of India is scheduled to conduct elections to 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 States on March 16. The terms of the sitting members from these States will expire in April.

According to political observers, the ruling BJP is poised to strengthen its presence in the Upper House, as it is in power or shares alliance governments in six of the 10 States going to polls.

The States where seats are falling vacant include Maharashtra (seven), Tamil Nadu (six), West Bengal (five), Bihar (five), Odisha (four), Assam (three), Telangana (two), Chhattisgarh (two), Haryana (two), and Himachal Pradesh (one).

The BJP’s list of candidates announced on Tuesday comprises:

Nitin Nabin (Bihar)
Shivesh Kumar (Bihar)
Terash Gowalla (Assam)
Jogen Mohan (Assam)
Laxmi Verma (Chhattisgarh)
Sanjay Bhatia (Haryana)
Manmohan Samal (Odisha)
Sujeet Kumar (Odisha)
