Mangaluru: 11th year of Sauharda Iftar meet on Mar 7

Mangaluru, Mar 4: A press meet was held on Wednesday at the Press Club announcing the 11th year of the Sauharda Iftar meet under the leadership of MLC Ivan D’Souza.

For the past ten years, festivals symbolising communal harmony such as Deepavali, Christmas, and Ramadan have been celebrated with great enthusiasm by people of all faiths across Mangaluru. Continuing this tradition, the 11th annual Iftar Souharda Koota (Harmony Iftar Gathering) will be held on Saturday, March 7, at Palemar Garden, Morgans Gate, Jeppinamogaru, Mangaluru.

The programme will begin at 5:00 pm with a religious meeting. A committee has already been formed to oversee the preparations and ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

The distinguished guests for the religious gathering include Sri Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swamiji of Shreedhama Manila Mahalakshmi Kshetra, Janab Riyaz Faizi Kakkinje, religious leader of Kudroli Juma Masjid, Fr J B Saldanha, PRO of Mangalore diocese, Prof P L Dharma, pro vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, Konaje, and J Krishna Palemar, former minister, government of Karnataka and chairman of Palemar Group.

Several social leaders, political representatives, religious heads, and other dignitaries will also participate in the event.

Arrangements have been made for offering Namaz at around 6:30 pm during the time of breaking the fast. A community feast (Sahabhojana) has been organised for people of all faiths attending the gathering.

Those present at the press conference included N P Manuraj, Manish Bolar, Imran Kudroli, Satish Pengal, Chandrahass Poojary Kodikal, and Mohammed Nawaz Mahakali Paddu.

The organisers have invited members of all communities to participate and strengthen the spirit of unity and harmony.
