Ontario (Canada), Mar 5: The murder of Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old social media influencer and outspoken critic of Khalistani extremism, has shaken Canada’s Punjabi diaspora community. Authorities in LaSalle, a town in the Windsor-Essex region of Canada, are investigating the fatal stabbing, which occurred at her residence on March 3.
Emergency services responded shortly before 9:30 pm, finding Grewal with multiple severe stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital but died soon after from her injuries.

Grewal had established a strong online presence as a YouTuber and social media influencer, focusing on Punjab-related issues, Indian politics, and diaspora matters. She was known for her criticism of Khalistani activists, including Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, head of the proscribed group Sikhs for Justice. Reports from Khalsa Vox noted that she frequently condemned separatist propaganda and called for critics to address issues directly in India rather than promoting division abroad.
In an official statement issued Thursday, the LaSalle Police Service described the homicide as an "isolated incident" and expressed condolences to Grewal’s family and friends. Authorities have appealed to residents in the area to share any video surveillance that may assist in identifying the perpetrators.
The incident has drawn widespread attention both within the local Windsor-LaSalle community and among Grewal’s online followers, underscoring the dangers faced by vocal figures engaging in polarised or contentious discussions. Investigators continue to search for leads to apprehend those responsible.
