Iran reportedly targets Ali Al Salem Air base in Kuwait; US suspends embassy operations

Kuwait, Mar 6: Iran has reportedly carried out another missile strike targeting the Ali Al Salem Air Base amid the escalating conflict involving United States, Israel and Iran in the Middle East.

Videos and reports circulating on social media showed projectiles exploding near the base, with footage capturing the moments of impact followed by blasts in the vicinity of the military facility.

The development comes days after Kuwait’s defence ministry stated that its forces had intercepted missiles aimed at a military base hosting US and other foreign personnel.

According to reports quoting defence ministry spokesman Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, the Kuwaiti Air Defence Force successfully intercepted several ballistic missiles targeting the base.

Meanwhile, amid the growing tensions in the region, the United States Department of State announced the suspension of operations at the U.S. Embassy Kuwait City.

In a press statement, the department said embassy operations had been halted as a precautionary measure, although no injuries were reported among US personnel.

“The safety and security of Americans overseas remains our highest priority,” the statement said, adding that the travel advisory for Kuwait remains at Level 3: Reconsider Travel.

The department also issued emergency contact information for American citizens requiring urgent consular assistance or guidance on available departure options amid the ongoing regional tensions.
