Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Mar 13: Former MP Imtiaz Jaleel on Thursday alleged a multi-crore scam in the Ramai Gharakul Yojana under the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation, claiming the irregularities have been ongoing for several years.

Speaking at a press conference, Jaleel claimed that fake Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and caste certificates were created in the names of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to siphon off scheme funds.

Documents presented by Jaleel reportedly showed caste certificates falsely issued under the name of “Mahar,” and fake ration cards listing Shinde’s family members. These identities were allegedly used to apply for housing under the scheme.

Targeting BJP leaders and officials, Jaleel accused some city leaders of misappropriating funds meant for the poor for many years. He claimed that municipal commissioners signed off on crore worth files under ministerial pressure, implicating several senior leaders. He also alleged that departmental heads are being pressured to approve files connected to the scam.

Legal battle on the cards

Jaleel said that since administrative officers are involved, complaints alone would not suffice, and he plans to approach the High Court with solid evidence. He further alleged that thousands of housing units allocated since 2010 do not exist on the ground. The scam, he claimed, is enriching middlemen at the expense of genuine beneficiaries, and he demanded a high-level investigation into the matter.
