Beltangady: Three relatives killed as car collides head–on with KSRTC bus in Shiradi Ghat

Beltangady, March 13: Three persons from Belthangady were killed on the spot and another sustained serious injuries after a car collided head-on with a Rajahamsa bus of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) near Gundya in the treacherous stretch of Shiradi Ghat on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrashekhara Gowda of Dharmadakala, Sridhar Marakada and Janardhana Kerimar. Suresh, another occupant of the car, was seriously injured and has been admitted to hospital for treatment. All the victims are reportedly relatives.


According to sources, the group had travelled to Sakleshpura to attend a wedding and were returning to Kokkada when the accident occurred.

The mishap took place near the Gundya Gadi temple when the Rajahamsa bus, which had departed from Dharmasthala Temple at around 2.30 pm and was heading towards Tirupati via Bengaluru, collided with the car coming from the opposite direction.

The force of the impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled. Passers-by and local residents who rushed to the spot pulled out the victims, who were trapped in the wreckage and covered in blood, with considerable effort before shifting the injured to hospital.
