I agree with subject matter expert Mr. Dony Lewis's comments. Addition to his comments I like to add that if driver is trained of safety label on the back of yhe tanker about hazards, properties of chemicals and control messures during emergencies this dangerous accident could have averted, Secondly uncontrolled traffic beside the tanker each vehicle with ignition sources and nearby standing curious public to get a glimpse of small fire or smoke should have awareness that lucky this time not to havefire ball or explosion which could have charred surrounding area into ashes, Due to current global situation ,shortage of LPG ignorant people did not dared to steal containment in cans/containers due to the presence of authorities,We witnessed often such a things during accidents of alcohol, fish & petroleum products carriers.

A major tragedy averted by the team of Police and Fire fighters under the guidance of the Udupi DC. The twin district travelers had to bleed a lot due to the negligence and rash driving of the unskilled and untrained drivers who are completely ignorant of any safety and traffic regulations! However, the point which is ignored or not taken into consideration is the the movement of heavy trucks on the busy highway during the peak business hours. How careless we are? I am appalled by the the decision of the RTOs to allow the hazardous/flammable chemicals laden tankers and heavily loaded long trucks to ply on the highways during the busy hours of the day. Any developing or developed countries these trucks are prohibited to ply during the busy hours to avoid the choking of the roads and to avert major disaster on the roads. Imagine the fate of the surrounding vehicles and people if there was a spark. Hope someone in the administration will realize this and act on this fact?
