Youth attacked with sickle in broad daylight in Pune; weapon stuck in victim’s head

Pune, Mar 16: A shocking daylight attack in the Wagholi area of Pune created panic in the locality after a youth was brutally assaulted with a sickle while he was having tea outside a hotel. The violent incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, has gone viral and triggered concern among residents.

According to information available, the incident occurred near Raisoni College in Wagholi. The victim, identified as Nagesh Jagtap, had stopped outside a hotel with his friend to drink tea when the attack took place.

At that time, Mangesh Sangale, who reportedly held a grudge over an earlier dispute, arrived at the spot along with two associates. An argument broke out between the two sides, during which the accused allegedly confronted Nagesh asking why he had abused him earlier.

In a sudden turn of events, the accused allegedly attacked Nagesh with a sickle and repeatedly struck him. Nagesh sustained serious injuries to his head, back and other parts of his body. The attack was so brutal that the sickle used in the assault got stuck in the victim’s head, leaving him bleeding profusely before collapsing on the ground.

Nagesh’s friend Siddhesh, who rushed to rescue him, also suffered injuries during the attack.

Following the incident, chaos prevailed in the area as local residents rushed to help the injured youths and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area. The footage reportedly shows the accused attacking the victim with the sickle.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation using technical analysis, CCTV footage and information gathered from local residents. During the probe, the main accused, Mangesh Sangale, was arrested.

Police have taken the accused into custody and further interrogation is underway to ascertain the exact motive behind the attack and identify the two associates who accompanied him during the incident. Efforts are currently on to trace the remaining accused.

Meanwhile, both injured youths are undergoing treatment at a hospital. The brutal attack has created an atmosphere of fear among residents in the Wagholi area.
