Mangaluru: Two held in illegal cattle transport case

Mangaluru, Mar 21: Bajpe police have arrested two of the accused who had fled the spot in connection with a case of cruel transportation of cattle in a Fortuner car near Sasthavu Temple in Badaga Yedapadavu village.

The arrested have been identified as Nisar alias Nisaruddin alias Parivala Nisar (28), a resident of Bhatrakere in Permude and a native of Pejavara Konchar, and Mohammed Jamaluddin alias Jamal (24), a resident of Akkodi House, Permanki in Ulaibettu.

Acting on information that cattle were being transported for sale in a cruel manner with their legs tied and stuffed inside a car, Bajpe police intercepted the vehicle near Sasthavu Temple in Badaga Yedapadavu village at around 4.45 am on March 18. Upon inspection, four cattle were found tied hand and foot and being transported in a cruel manner inside the car. The accused had fled the scene leaving behind the car and the cattle.

A sword and an iron rod found in the car were seized. Properties worth Rs 8.42 lac in total have been confiscated. Police stated that a team has been formed to trace the remaining absconding accused, and efforts to locate them are ongoing.
