Mangaluru, Mar 22: An LPG-laden foreign vessel, 'Pyxis Pioneer', sailing under the Singapore flag, arrived at New Mangalore Port on Sunday morning, bringing a major consignment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for local distribution.

According to the New Mangalore Port Authority’s Daily Vessel Position, the tanker had departed from the Port of Nederland in Texas, United States, on February 14. It is scheduled to discharge 16,714 tonnes of LPG for Aegis Logistics Ltd at the port before sailing out on Monday morning.

“Operations are proceeding smoothly, and the vessel is expected to complete unloading by tomorrow morning,” a port official said.

The arrival of 'Pyxis Pioneer' adds to a series of foreign vessels calling at New Mangalore Port this month.

Earlier, the crude oil tanker 'Aqua Titan', carrying Russian Urals cargo, docked on Saturday night and completed unloading 96,099.80 tonnes of crude oil at the Single Mooring Point (SPM) of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) on Sunday, sources said.

The vessel had initially loaded cargo at a Baltic Sea port in late January and was en route to Rizhao port in China before altering its course in Southeast Asia towards New Mangalore.

In another development, LPG tanker Apollo Ocean, sailing under the Vietnam flag, is expected to call at New Mangalore Port on March 25. The vessel, with a gross tonnage of 46,025 tonnes, is likely to discharge 26,687 tonnes of LPG for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, sources added.
