Mumbai, Mar 27: A 31-year-old delivery executive working with Zomato was killed in a tragic road accident in Kandivali West after a parked car door was allegedly opened without checking, causing him to fall into the path of a moving tanker, police said.
The victim, identified as Tuvankumar Maheshwar Yadav, was on duty at the time of the incident, which occurred around 7 pm on Wednesday on Link Road. He had reportedly left home an hour earlier to carry out deliveries.

According to police, the accident occurred when a car driver suddenly opened the door without checking for oncoming traffic. The impact caused the rider to lose balance and fall onto the road, where he was run over by a passing tanker.
The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against both the car driver and the tanker driver for negligence. The car driver, identified as Aftab Alam, has been accused of opening the door carelessly, while the tanker driver, Anantray Shivnayak Yadav, has been booked for rash and negligent driving.
Officials highlighted the importance of the “Dutch Reach” technique—a safety practice of opening a car door using the far hand, which forces the person to turn and check for approaching traffic. Experts say this simple method can help prevent such “dooring” accidents, particularly involving two-wheeler riders and cyclists.
