Panaji, Mar 29: In a significant enforcement action, excise officials intercepted a major consignment of illegal liquor at the Anmod checkpost along the Goa–Karnataka border, seizing 167 litres (925 bottles) hidden inside a truck.
The liquor, valued at Rs 46,700, was ingeniously concealed within a concrete pump machine mounted on the vehicle, raising suspicion during a routine inspection on Saturday. Officials halted the truck after noticing irregularities and conducted a detailed search, leading to the discovery.

The accused, Yogeshbhai Kagdad from Rajkot, was taken into custody at the scene.
Authorities also confiscated the truck along with the concrete equipment used to hide the liquor. The total value of the seized items, including the vehicle and machinery, is estimated to be around Rs 45 lac.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the consignment was being transported from Goa to Gujarat for illegal distribution and sale. Officials said further inquiries are underway to trace the broader network involved in the smuggling operation.
