Iran media lists key Middle East bridges amid fears of retaliatory strikes

Tehran, Apr 3: Iranian media has published a list of major bridges across the Middle East, signalling potential “tit-for-tat” retaliation after a recent US-Israeli strike destroyed a key bridge in Iran.

The semi-official Fars News Agency highlighted several prominent structures in neighbouring countries as possible targets following the attack on the B1 bridge in Karaj.

Among the bridges named were Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Sea Bridge in Kuwait, King Fahd Causeway connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as Sheikh Zayed Bridge and Sheikh Khalifa Bridge in the UAE. In Jordan, King Hussein Bridge, Damia Bridge, and Abdoun Bridge were also listed.

The warning comes a day after US and Israeli forces carried out strikes on the B1 bridge in Karaj, located in Alborz province, killing two people and destroying the structure. Videos circulating online showed large sections of the bridge collapsing after the attack.

The bridge, spanning nearly 1,000 metres, was a key infrastructure project aimed at easing congestion between Tehran and Karaj and improving connectivity to northern regions.

Following the strike, US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, urging it to reach a deal “before it’s too late”.

The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region after a joint US-Israeli offensive launched on February 28. Iran has since responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, raising fears of further escalation.
