New Delhi, Apr 4: In a significant move against drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) of Delhi Police carried out a successful operation on Saturday, arresting two individuals involved in the illegal supply of narcotics and recovering a substantial quantity of ganja along with cash and packaging equipment.

The accused, identified as Nadeem (28) and Monu alias Abhishek (25), were apprehended during the raid. Authorities seized 45.760 kilograms of ganja, estimated to be worth around ?23 lakh in the illegal market. Alongside the contraband, police also recovered Rs 2,65,400 in cash, an electronic weighing scale, and materials used for packaging.

The operation was part of Delhi Police’s ongoing drive to eliminate drug networks operating in the region. A specialized ANS team, working under senior officers, acted on credible intelligence received on April 2 regarding the storage of narcotics at a residence in Jawahar Mohallah, Shashi Garden.

Acting promptly, the team raided the premises and caught the accused red-handed while they were dividing the ganja into smaller packets for distribution. During the search, four plastic bags containing the substance were recovered. Upon verification, the total quantity was confirmed to fall under the “commercial quantity” category as defined by the NDPS Act.

A case has been registered at Pandav Nagar Police Station under relevant provisions of the law, and both suspects were taken into custody at the scene.

During questioning, the accused disclosed their involvement in a broader drug distribution network spread across the Delhi-NCR region. They reportedly sourced ganja in bulk from outside states and stored it in residential areas to evade detection. The drugs were then repackaged using simple tools such as staplers and tape for easier circulation through local channels.

Police officials noted that neither of the accused has any prior criminal record. Nadeem, who lives in Shashi Garden, is married and educated up to Class 8, while Monu, a resident of Shastri Mohalla in Patparganj, is unmarried and studied up to Class 7.

Investigators are now working to uncover the larger network behind the operation, including interstate links and other individuals involved in the supply chain.
