Kundapur: 43-year-old fisherman drowns after slipping into Chakra River

Kundapur, Apr 5: A tragic mishap claimed the life of a fisherman in Torolli, a hamlet in Kundabarandadi village.

The deceased, Janardhana Poojary (43), a resident of Torolli, had gone to the Chakra River for his routine fishing expedition when he accidentally slipped and fell into the river. Local sources confirmed that despite immediate attempts to rescue him, he could not be saved.

Speaking to authorities, a local resident said, “Janardhana was an experienced fisherman, but the river currents that morning were deceptively strong. It was a sudden accident that took everyone by surprise.”

The incident has been officially registered at the Gangolli police station, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is under way.

Authorities have urged locals to exercise caution while fishing, especially in rivers with strong currents during the early hours.
