Kejriwal to argue own case in Delhi HC over excise policy row

New Delhi, Apr 6: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to personally argue his case before the Delhi High Court on Monday in connection with the alleged excise policy scam, the Aam Aadmi Party said.

The party stated that Kejriwal, along with other accused, has filed a plea seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma from hearing the matter.

The development comes in response to a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate challenging a trial court order that had acquitted Kejriwal and others in a case related to alleged non-compliance with summons during the liquor policy investigation.

In its January 22 ruling, the Rouse Avenue Court had cleared Kejriwal of all charges, observing that the central agency failed to establish any deliberate disobedience of its summons.

The matter is now set for hearing in the High Court, where Kejriwal is expected to present his arguments in person.
