Islamabad, Apr 11: A US government aircraft carrying senior American officials landed in Islamabad on Saturday for peace talks with Iran, according to two Pakistani sources cited by Reuters.
The development comes as Washington and Tehran prepare to begin negotiations aimed at ending a six-week-long conflict involving Iran, which has resulted in thousands of deaths across the Middle East and caused widespread regional instability.
The ongoing war has also disrupted global energy supplies, contributed to rising inflation, and slowed economic growth worldwide, according to reports.

The talks in Islamabad are being viewed as a critical diplomatic effort to de-escalate tensions between the two countries and work towards a possible ceasefire or broader peace framework.
While full details of the delegation have not been officially released, the U.S. team is reported to include top officials involved in foreign policy and security discussions. The Iranian delegation has also reportedly arrived in the region for the negotiations.
The Islamabad talks mark one of the most significant direct diplomatic engagements between the two sides since the outbreak of the conflict, with expectations of intense discussions over security guarantees, sanctions, and regional stability.
Officials from Pakistan are facilitating the talks as part of their mediation role, while security has been tightened in the capital ahead of the high-level meeting.
