Gaza, Apr 11: At least seven Palestinians were killed and several others injured in Israeli strikes across central and southern Gaza Strip, according to medical and emergency officials on Saturday.
A drone strike fired two missiles near a police post in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for Gaza’s civil defence rescue service, told AFP. Medical sources said the attack hit a group of civilians in the “Block 9” area, resulting in multiple fatalities and serious injuries.
Emergency responders faced difficult conditions while transporting the dead and injured to nearby hospitals. The al-Aqsa hospital reported receiving six bodies and seven wounded, including four in critical condition, while al-Awda hospital confirmed one death and two injuries.

In a separate incident in southern Gaza, the Nasser Medical Complex said it received three wounded individuals after a drone strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced families in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis.
Eyewitnesses and local reports also said Israeli artillery shelling and heavy tank fire continued near Bani Suheila and parts of eastern Gaza City.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the death toll in the ongoing war has crossed 72,300 since October 2023, including hundreds killed since the latest ceasefire period began last year. Among recent casualties was Al Jazeera journalist Mohammed Wishah, who was killed earlier this week in an attack west of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, UN human rights chief Volker Türk condemned the continued violence, saying the “unrelenting pattern of killings” reflects “sweeping impunity” and warning that Palestinians continue to be killed in homes, shelters, streets, and medical facilities.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces and settlers carried out multiple raids and arrests. Reports said seven people were detained near Qalqilya, while others were questioned in villages near Jenin. Settlers also reportedly set fire to a house in Duma in the Nablus governorate, though residents managed to control the blaze.
Israeli media also reported approval of dozens of new illegal settlements in the West Bank, a move condemned by several international governments and organisations, including the European Union and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as a violation of international law.
