Panaji, Apr 14: The Goa catering industry has raised alarm over an ongoing shortage of LPG, warning that the crisis could severely disrupt operations if not addressed promptly.

The Goa Catering Association has submitted a representation to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, seeking immediate government intervention. The association has requested either assured supply of at least 50% of required cooking gas or financial subsidy support to help businesses cope with the shortage.

According to industry representatives, the scarcity of LPG is already affecting day-to-day functioning, forcing several catering units to scale down their services. Many operators have temporarily suspended live kitchen arrangements until supply conditions improve.

The association cautioned that if the situation persists, it could lead to widespread disruption in catering services across the state, particularly during ongoing functions and upcoming events that rely heavily on large-scale food preparation.

Stakeholders have urged authorities to take swift corrective measures to stabilise LPG distribution and prevent further strain on Goa’s hospitality and catering ecosystem.
