Bhopal/Anuppur, Apr 19: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of four young men from Bhimkundi village after a tractor-trolley they were travelling in overturned into a deep excavation pit in Dindori district on Sunday morning.

The victims were reportedly heading to a nearby village in Anuppur district to collect road construction material, locally known as gitti. The incident occurred between 5:45 and 6:00 a.m. near the jurisdiction of Karan Pathar police station.

According to police officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a sharp turn. The heavily loaded tractor-trolley veered off the road and plunged into a deep pit where earth excavation work was underway. All four occupants were trapped beneath the overturned vehicle and died on the spot due to severe injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Ankush Uike (24), who was driving the tractor, along with Brajesh Pendo (18), Ravindra Kumar (18), and Chandra Prakash Marko (17). All were close friends and residents of Bhimkundi village.

Local residents rushed to the scene and alerted authorities, following which a rescue operation was launched. An earthmoving machine was used to lift the overturned trolley and recover the bodies, a process that took considerable effort due to the weight of the vehicle.

The bodies were later sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including possible mechanical failure or overloading.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with grieving families receiving condolences from officials and villagers alike. District authorities have assured that necessary assistance will be extended to the bereaved families.
