Tehran, Apr 21: Iran has warned it is prepared to deploy “new cards” if fighting resumes with the United States and its allies, even as uncertainty continues over the future of ongoing peace talks.
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran had used the recent ceasefire period to prepare fresh strategies, stressing that the country would not negotiate “under the shadow of threats.”
The remarks come as a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States nears its expiry, with no clarity on whether a second round of talks will take place. Iranian officials have indicated that no final decision has been made on participating in the proposed negotiations in Pakistan.

Tehran has expressed deep skepticism about the talks, citing concerns that negotiations could lead to demands it is unwilling to accept. Officials have reiterated that any dialogue must be free from pressure and coercion.
On the other side, Donald Trump has maintained that a deal could be reached soon, while also signaling a hardline stance, raising doubts about the direction of diplomacy.
The uncertainty surrounding the talks follows weeks of escalating tensions, including military actions and disputes over key issues such as sanctions, nuclear activities, and control of strategic routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
With both sides taking firm positions and the ceasefire deadline approaching, the situation remains volatile, with the possibility of renewed conflict if negotiations fail to gain traction.
