New Delhi, Apr 24: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J. P. Nadda chaired a high-level meeting with industry leaders in New Delhi to chart a strategic roadmap for the growth of the chemicals and petrochemicals sector.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda said the discussions focused on identifying both short-term and long-term measures to accelerate sectoral growth and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the government and industry to unlock the sector’s full potential.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the meeting also deliberated on strengthening sectoral resilience and developing alternative supply chains in light of the ongoing West Asia crisis. The minister highlighted strategies aimed at enhancing India’s position in the global chemicals and petrochemicals value chain.

Nadda expressed confidence in the capabilities of the domestic industry and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a level playing field to achieve the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He noted that appropriate trade remedial measures would be considered to address unfair trade practices impacting the sector.
Inviting suggestions from industry stakeholders, the minister said such inputs would help make the sector more robust and adaptive, particularly amid current global challenges. He assured that the government would continue to work closely with industry players on a sustained basis.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, along with around 25 CEOs, chairpersons, and industry leaders representing diverse segments such as petrochemicals, polymers, specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, and allied industries.
