Washington, Apr 24: US President Donald Trump has announced that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks following recent discussions.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the meeting on the issue had gone well and confirmed that the United States would continue working with Lebanon to help strengthen its security against Hezbollah.

“The meeting went very well. The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah,” Trump stated.

He further added that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon would now remain in effect for an additional three weeks.

Trump also indicated the possibility of diplomatic engagement at a higher level, saying that leaders from Lebanon and Israel could meet at the White House in the near future.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to ease tensions in the region and maintain stability along the Israel-Lebanon border.
