Panaji, Apr 24: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said nearly 2,500 government posts in the state will soon be filled through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), while stressing that employment opportunities are also expanding in the private sector.
Addressing a job fair organised by the Goa Human Resources Development Corporation Limited near Panaji, Sawant said more than 6,000 candidates had applied for the event, with 25 leading private companies from Verna Industrial Estate participating.

He said recruitment processes are underway and appointment letters are expected to be issued by May 1.
Highlighting future employment prospects, the chief minister said his government has initiated a transparent mechanism to fill vacancies through the SSC and examinations for the remaining posts would be held shortly.
“The entire process is transparent as candidates get to know their results before leaving the examination hall,” he said.
Encouraging youth to remain committed and work hard, Sawant recalled his own early career as a resident medical officer at Shiroda Ayurvedic College with a salary of Rs 4,000 a month.
“If you are ready to work hard, your luck can shine,” he said.
Sawant also highlighted self-employment initiatives, saying the Economic Development Corporation is offering loans at four per cent interest, with a provision for interest-free repayment within two years if a business proves unviable.
He added that under the IT department’s startup scheme, entrepreneurs are being provided financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh.
The chief minister also pointed to growing opportunities in the events industry and urged local youth to tap into the sector, saying the government wants Goans to benefit from emerging prospects rather than outside agencies.
