AAP alleges foul play as Gujarat Instagram handle suspended amid polls

Ahmedabad, Apr 25: The Gujarat unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged political interference after its official Instagram handle was suspended during the ongoing local body elections in the state.

Party leaders claimed the move reflected the “fear” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over AAP’s growing popularity among voters.

The development comes a day after seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, announced their resignation from the party and decision to join the BJP.

AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha questioned the timing of the suspension, stating that the party had been receiving strong public support during the elections.

In a social media post, Jha alleged that the Instagram account of AAP Gujarat was taken down despite gaining significant traction and engagement during the campaign.

AAP national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda also criticised the move, claiming that the account was shut down under pressure from the ruling party.

He said the party would continue its campaign efforts despite the setback.

There was no immediate response from the BJP regarding the allegations.
