Mangaluru: Warrant accused absconding for two years traced, arrested

Mangaluru, Apr 25: A warrant accused who had been absconding for the past two years in connection with a case registered at Mangaluru North police station has been traced and arrested by the police.

The accused has been identified as Goods Munir alias T P Munir alias Ahmed (59). He is a resident of Goods Road, Bunder, Mangaluru, and was currently staying at Kulshekar, Mangaluru.

According to police, the accused was wanted in Mangaluru North police station Crime No. 291/1998 registered under Sections 143, 147, 436 and 149 of the IPC. The matter was pending before the third additional district and sessions court in SC No. 68/2024.

As the accused had failed to appear before the court and had been absconding for nearly two years, the court had issued a warrant against him.

On April 25, officers and staff of Mangaluru North police station arrested the accused from his rented house in Kulshekar and produced him before the court.

The court has remanded the warrant accused to judicial custody.
