New Delhi, Apr 26: A man was found dead inside a ladies washroom at Inderlok Metro Station in northwest Delhi, police said on Saturday.

According to officials, a PCR call was received around 5.33 pm on April 25 reporting that a toilet at the metro station was locked from inside and emitting a strong foul smell. A police team rushed to the spot and reached the Sulabh toilet complex within the station premises.

The door of the washroom was broken open, following which an unidentified male body, believed to be around 40 years old, was found hanging inside. Prima facie, police suspect the deceased to be the caretaker of the facility.

A witness told police that the man was last seen nearly two days before the body was discovered.

The crime team inspected the scene, and the body was later shifted to the mortuary at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for preservation. Efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased with assistance from metro authorities.

Police said proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
