Mumbai, Apr 26: The Western Railway carried out two major overnight traffic blocks on its suburban corridor between Saturday and Sunday to facilitate key infrastructure upgrades, including Metro construction and foot overbridge installation.
According to Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek, one block was implemented between Ram Mandir Railway Station and Jogeshwari Railway Station to enable the launching of steel girders for Mumbai Metro Line 6. The operation lasted around 10 hours, during which trains on the sixth line were rerouted via the UP fast line between Borivali and Andheri to ensure smooth execution of the work.

Simultaneously, another block was undertaken at Dahisar Railway Station for the installation of girders for two new foot overbridges. This work affected multiple lines, including the Down slow, Up slow, and Down fast sections between 2:05 am and 4:05 am, while the Up fast line remained blocked for a shorter duration between 2:05 am and 3:05 am.
Railway officials said both operations were completed within the scheduled time window and formed part of ongoing efforts to improve commuter infrastructure and connectivity across Mumbai’s suburban network.
