Aldona MLA backs locals, vows probe into project legality

Aldona, Apr 27: Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira has extended support to local residents protesting a proposed project, assuring that he will seek detailed information on zoning and planning permissions from the Town and Country Planning Department and halt the project if any violations are found.

Ferreira stated that if the land falls under forest area, eco-sensitive zone, or is classified under No Development Zone (NDZ), it must remain protected. He strongly criticised alleged attempts to destroy vegetation to misrepresent land classification.

“Burning trees to falsely show there is no forest is dishonest and must be challenged. This is not about borders or politics — it is about protecting Goa and the interests of every Goan,” he said.

He further assured that all documents related to the project would be obtained and thoroughly examined, and legal options would be explored to stop the development if it is found to be in violation of existing norms.
