India tops ISSF Junior World Cup with 16 medals

Cairo, Apr 27: India emerged on top of the medal standings at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in Cairo, finishing with an impressive haul of 16 medals, including five gold, six silver and five bronze.

Two more medals were added on the final day of competition. Hemant Burman secured a silver medal in the men’s 50 metre rifle 3 positions event with a score of 351.7. Kazakhstan’s Oleg Noskov clinched gold after setting a junior world record score of 355.6, while Uzbekistan’s Nikita Sokolov took bronze.

In the mixed trap team event, the Indian duo of Zuhair Khan and Addya Katyal bagged bronze, marking India’s first shotgun podium finish at the Cairo meet. Hungary claimed the gold medal in the event with a junior world record performance.

India fielded the largest contingent at the ???????, with 71 shooters participating among a total of 284 athletes representing 25 federations. The strong overall performance underlined India’s growing dominance in junior-level international shooting competitions.
